Mo ene bon poisson, maye moi dans to lebras

First of all, many thanks to all those who participated in the “Happy Blogging anniversary” blog article!

Have you ever seen a fish, singing a melodious song after been caught by a bare-handed young guy and while being carried to the oven, surrounded by seasoning…

Update (10 October 2010)

Unfortunately, video has been removed by the youtube user. You will have to do with the lyrics only 😦

mo ene bon poisson
maye moi dans to lebras
montrer moi to famille
ammene moi to lakaaz
zotte pu bien content moi
zotte pu bien prepare moi
ki li dans 1 tipti ou ene grand plat
zotte pu bien content moi
zotte pu bien content moi
zotte pu bien content moi

IMHO, this advert of “Sud Océan” adds itself to the list of most stupid adverts ever. I feel that I should make this list official soon.

The song itself, by Eric Triton(it seems so) is quite nice and pleasing but the advert would have been most probably more widely accepted if the young guy sang it as follows : “To ene bon poisson, mo maye toi dans mo lebras, mo montrer toi mo famille, zotte pu bien content toi[…]” and why not “mo pu met toi dans mo aquarium!” lol

What do you think?

Zoli, Entertaining, Horrible, Cruel, Innovant?

  1. Yes totally gross advert! I was like 😐 when I watched it for the first time! There could have been a better idea to do the ad!!!

  2. This is a really really gross and cruel. The kid “caught” the fish and it looked like he was going to adopt it as a pet and put it in an aquarium… but off the fish goes on the chopping board and into the oven… This is plain horrible.

I foresee kids crying when watching this..(at least as soon as they realize what’s gonna happen to the singing fish)

I don’t get it! How can people actually be paid to do such bad adverts… i really don’t get it!

  3. Personnaly I find it quite entertaining in the sense that the fish sings the song himself and with the actions of moving the lips as well as it’s tail out of happiness… It really made me laugh, it’s funny.

But logically it really seems weird that a fish sings so happily after it has been captured and is going to be cooked and eaten… 😛

Eski zot si zot ti pou content pareil si banne cannibals ti pou capture zot et prepare zot pou manG? 😛

I won’t say it is stupid. It’s funny and entertaining. At least it made me laugh…

Or maybe the ad passes the message that the fish is offering itself at service of the non-veggies, those who love to eat fish… 😉

  4. phff very bad !!!!

I think that MRU should take example on the adverts on M6 channel and other European channels !!! it is a pleasure to watch these foreign adverts but when it comes to adverts on MBC I always combine it with a “pause pipi” or looking for a ti-gato in the fridge !!!

  11. Am a fan of Triton (inimitable), I’ve only heard the ad, and was not aware that a video version of it existed…
From what Lina said, there is a kind of ‘dissonance’ between what the song says and what is shown: then this is, i think, a marketing fail.

  13. This could be used as a publicity for NOT over exploiting marine resources. I haven’t researched the statistics in detail but I do know that at the current trend of fishing.. in 10yrs we wont be left with much to eat from the sea.
