If you are unlucky to have your parcel held by the Mauritian Customs, then you will most probably go through the new system, myuniversalshop.com, with which Mauritius Post has decided to partner with.
Using MyUS.com to ship to Mauritius
The last one for 2021… Today, I’m writing about MyUS.com, a popular shipping forwarder which will forward your US & UK parcels to your real address, here in Mauritius. This turns out to be particularly useful for us Mauritians as many sellers (across most e-commerce platforms) around the world have closed their doors on us, making it very difficult to grab things from your wishlist.
Exemption decreased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,000 for imports following the Budget 2020 – 2021
That's a measure which makes online shopaholics quite unhappy 😬. This means that all purchases above Rs 1,000 will be eligible to VAT charges when clearing customs in Mauritius. Previously, only items above Rs 3, 000 were concerned as there was a higher exemption value.

You probably came across the above communiqué during the past days and as usual, you didn't give a damn about it (just like you did not when scrolling down!). [Online shopping] – Existing ICTA regulations more strictly enforced henceforth
Most online shopping addicts have been surprised by the ICTA's Communique published yesterday.
