Less than 24 hours to go before hitting year 2020 and unfortunately, the celebrations are going to be spoilt because of the cyclonic conditions caused by Calvania and the whole lot of associated inconveniences during the past 48 hours now.
Let’s forget the cyclone for a few seconds; Year 2019 in some quick points –
- Personal : Pretty calm for me with no big events.
- Blog : Migration to the famous paid subscription on wordpress.com, I’m very much satisfied with the result except that with the lack of activity on the blog, my earnings have considerably dropped. Also, I now use WordPress WordAds instead of Google Adsense.

Happy New Year 2020 to you and your family.
Calvinia cyclone ruined everything. I haven’t still received my salary as of now. So, I’m a bit angry right now.
Anyway, I also have launched my personal blog and already 4 posts are sitting there. It’s relatively new. I’ve put some ads hoping I can make money from it.
Also, I’m thinking of writing a blog post every day even if it seems difficult considering the fact that I work from 8-5. Anyway, I’ll try and see.
While doing research on blogging, I found out that if we’re consistent in blogging, we can earn a pretty chunk of income and eventually quitting our shitty 9-5 jobs. Many bloggers have already quit their job for blogging.
I think Mauritians are not too exposed to blogging. That’s why we have a few of them in Mauritius.
We need more bloggers because there are brilliant minds out there. I’m saying this because when I read comments on Facebook and elsewhere, I get to read awesome comments with great English.
So, we need to bring them out.

Coming to your new blog : As long you can keep it active, it is a good thing. Years ago, I was posting an article every 2 to 3 days. Nowadays, writing even one article per day seems challenging lol.
Making money out of blogging is possible but in Mauritius 🇲🇺, probably just sufficient to pay for your own hosting costs ( and some cakes) , provided you blog regularly with content which pulls people.
Now, it’s good to know that we do have a Facebook group with the max number of bloggers I could find on the web : https://www.facebook.com/themauritianbloggers/
Pretty inactive for now, but the most ideal platform if you need to reach people of the bloggers community. So, please join in.
