Let’s go for the 499th post on this blog!
For the very first purchase, most of us usually choose The Complete Ultimate Computer Package which comprises of the monitor, cpu, mouse and all those stuffs given away as “free gifts” and, and and… The Printer…. either the simple one or the “10 in one” printer which can be used for everything; from calling your friends to making photocopies.
Yes, the printer works wonderfully well for some time until the ink gets over or worst; “Ou lencre ine sek missier, akoz ou pas fine servi printer la souvent!” And its only then that you find out that replacing the cartridges is really costly… You either end up buying another printer with 2 new cartridges or remain printer-less for the rest of your life, happily! No more headache about paper jams, neither any worries about how to keep the device alive.
I believe that more than 1/2 of us do not bother buying another printer. Because with time, you realise that you can live without it. Printing a document costs only about Rs2 per page but there’s always a cheaper alternative : Your neighbour or next door cousin!
My first (and last) printer lasted for less than 2 years and I was lucky that I did not encounter any major problems with it. I still don’t remember if it broke down or I threw it away when I no more needed it. And I can say that I am not interested to buy another one…
Today, I wanna how many among you (still) have (or not?) a printer… as simple as that!
Image from here.
I have 2 printers – 1 All-in-One (used only for scanning) & an A3 printer (launched in 1999!!!).
I prefer using the A3 printer coz the ink is cheaper (but not available).

I had 3 printers(One among them had the most expensive cartridge. .Rs 1200 for the black one and Rs 1800 for the color one.And the printer cost around Rs3000.) But since the last 2 or 3 years, I don’t have any printer and don’t intend to buy one. Whenever I need to print something, I go to the bookshop.

For years, I managed to live without a printer… until one year ago when I decided to buy a black and white laser printer (a HP LaserJet P1006) When I have a lot of things to read, nothing can beat the quality of a laser printer. And the running costs are really not bad compared to an inkjet. And I don’t miss colour at all…

I have 3 at home. My first was a lexmark z605. I then bought an Epson dx3850 because the previous one did not have an integrated scanner. I tried to use generic ink cartridges with both of them but the quality was very poor and a black ink cartridge even destroyed my black ink slot for the epson. Since the z605 is a ‘glouton’, I bought another one – a lexmark x2650. It did not last long. I printed some pages and it was all over. Nowadays, I use the university’s printing services and they cost a lot cheaper. I’m a happy man ever since.

I have 3 printers: OKI B2200 b/w laser + Dell V305 inkjet all in one + the old model Dell 922 inkjet all in one.
I use the OKI laser for printing text it is compact for home use and you get 2000 copies with a cartridge. I use the colour inkjet printer only when absolutely necessary.

I have two at home here and dear god, I am thankful for that. I practically use it everyday, so paying to print would be more expensive for me. However, I only buy black ink insteal of all of them, since it’s the only one I use.

I had to put aside my Hp 656c coz the ink cartridge at that time(5yrs ago) cost more than the printer Now i hav an hp 5510 but theirs something not nice at all with the hp printer. If the ink cartridge are not replaced after about two years they expire. Actually once a cartridge is put in a printer the printer gvs it a lifetime after that a message will appear that u need to change the cartridge. i had that problem and i found out on the net that i am not the only 1. But if the same cartridge is put in a different printer it will work perfectly fine.
I bought a refill kit for abt Rs400 and i can refill my cartridge about 5 time with it so for the time being i dont have to worry until my printer refuse my new cartridge again.

I use refill kits since my first printer. Has a Canon BJC-210 in 1996, my very first printer. In 1998 I discovered refill kits, it was the beginning of a new era.
Have you considered colour laser or mono laser? The yield per page is much cheaper. Also, with one tonner you get about 1000pg on average. While inkjet is about 250pg per cartridge.

I have an HP PSC and actually I don’t think I could live without it 😛
I mostly use my printer for printing things for crafts I usually indulge into. It’s like an important tool for me.
Then there’s mum’s assignments and dad’s docs to print without forgetting my sis notes from time to time.
So, guess for now I can’t live without a printer 😉

i have notic something about printers: every time you need them the most, it only them they would show some shit errors or simply the ink will get over or dry up. I own a HP PSC 1315 for nearly 5 years and i have used up to 10 cartridges. i used to buy imitation inks at a renowned shop in portlouis. but i noticed that it’s not of good quality and it spoils my print out. i can say i have suffer a lot during this 5 years using the printer. but still i lov it and i can say i hav the best printer in the world….

Well I have 3 printers…One is alive 100%, 2nd one half-dead (am using only scanner) & one in about to die as the software installed is requesting me to replace toner.
I can’t live w/o printer as my job requires it man!
BTW HP & Samsung doing quite good…
Personally I don’t like running to others for printing & most IMPORTANT ur neighbours & ur friends MUST NOT know that u have PRINTERS …these beggars LOL
