I’m Still Alive! (And How to Buy from Amazon France without the crazy shipping fees via Cart’In Maurice)

Yep, I’m still breathing. It’s been exactly 750 days since my last post.

First off, a massive thank you for still reading. In a world completely dominated by TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram reels, you’re here reading an actual blog. But let’s be honest: whether people like it or not, when you need quick, relevant, and no-nonsense information, nothing beats a well-written web page.

Today, I’m breaking the silence to share my experience with a company called Cart’In, which has recently launched its services here in Mauritius.

What exactly is Cart’In?

Think of them as a smart intermediary (or a “Reseller,” as they call themselves) for Amazon France. They allow you to purchase pretty much anything from Amazon France and get it delivered straight to your doorstep in Mauritius.

How it works is simple:

  1. You buy the item through Cart’In’s mobile App (or browser extensions which I haven’t tried yet).
  2. Amazon delivers it to Cart’In’s local warehouse address in France.
  3. Cart’In then forwards the package to Mauritius.
  4. Once it lands, the package gets the VVIP treatment from Mauritius Post and is delivered to you—all for a fraction of the price you would pay if you shipped it directly via DHL.

The Price Breakdown: Amazon vs. Cart’In

To see if this was too good to be true, I decided to run a test. I set my eyes on a SanDisk microSDXC card on Amazon France which is priced at €34.49.

Here is the comparison of the charges (assuming an exchange rate of 1 Euro = Rs 55.77):

PlatformItem PriceShipping & FeesTotal Cost €Total Cost (Rs)Delivery Time
Amazon (DHL)€34.49€22.00 (Shipping fees) + €7.00 (Import fees)€63.00Rs 3,5131 week
Cart’In (Mauritius Post)€34.49€3.49 (All-inclusive)€37.98Rs 2,1181–2 weeks

The Verdict on Price: Cart’In saved me roughly Rs 1,400 on a single, tiny memory card as they charged only €3.49 for the entire shipping and customs process.

The Experience & Delivery

Getting started was painless. You just create a free account on their mobile app, set your delivery address, add your Amazon items to the basket, and check out.

Cart’In estimated a 1–2 week delivery window. It actually took exactly 16 days from the moment I paid to the moment it arrived, hitting their estimate perfectly.

Around 2:00 PM today, I got a call confirming my delivery. Since it was my first time using the platform, I wasn’t sure what to expect—would it be a random courier? A dude on a motorbike?

Two hours later, I was pleasantly surprised to see a standard Mauritius Post delivery van pulling up to my doorstep:

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been holding off on buying things from Amazon France because the DHL shipping and import fees cost more than the actual item, Cart’In is a genuine game-changer for Mauritius shoppers. It takes a few days longer, but the savings speak for themselves.

Have any of you tried Cart’In yet or willing to go for it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below

Cheers!

    1. From comments I’m getting around the posts on Facebook, it looks like several other people tried too and are waiting for their first purchase to be delivered.
