Total Tap Plein : Lottery draw postponed (2010)

Total

Initially scheduled for the 10th January 2010, the draw (with a Peugeot 308 as Star Prize) has been postponed to the 28th January 2010 for unknown reasons.

It is a bit disappointing that the reasons have not been mentioned and above all, the same communiqué includes a critical notice. The company has published a series of lottery numbers which will not be eligible to participate in the draw, once more without any further explanations or reasons mentioned. Those who have any tickets with the numbers mentioned MUST exchange them at the Total head office in Port Louis at their own cost!

Different dates for the draw

Yes, I wrote 10th January 2010 because that’s the date printed on the ticket (at least the one I am holding now) and the press communiqué talks about the draw which had to take place on 12th January 2010!

Error on their behalf? Still I have not seen any erratum published…

Different dates for the draw

I may be wrong but I find this unfair (if not suspicious) and as I said above, disappointing!!!

Details about the ticket:

For every Rs500 spent in a Total fuel station from 22nd August 2009 to 21 December 2009, the person was eligible for a lottery ticket. At the start of the above said period, the customers were required to write their name, address and telephone number on the ticket but I think that the organisers(or whoever) later realised that this took too much time and time = money! Finally, the tickets were handed without the need for any contact details!

Note : Link to be forwarded to people concerned at Total.

  4. You can always say that the only reason you bought petrol there is because of this lottery! And not respecting their own rules, this can be a fault – amounting to a breach of contract – hence liable to damages if you sue them
(unfortunately court costs can be more than the damages you would be rewarded)

En bref, sa ce voit ena mandaye ladan. Mo pa pu surpris si mo truv 1 dimoune dan famille proprio Total p ggne loto la li meme

    enfin, c sa moris…

  6. Hello,

I am the commercial communication manager of Total Mauritius and responsible for the lottery campaign Tap Plein. We thank you all for your feedback and comments. First of all, we wish to apologise for all the inconvenience caused with the postponing of the draw.

The reason why the draw was postponed from the 12th of January to the 28th of January is that the counterfoils mentioned in the press communiqué have not been returned to us, and hence we cannot validate these numbers. We want to reassure you all that we have acted under the supervision and recommendations of the Gambling Regulatory Authority with a view to give our clients the maximum chance to win a prize. We have always communicated our website (www.total.mu) and hotline number (207 5656) so that clients can contact us to get more information. If a client cannot come to Port Louis to exchange a ticket that forms part of the cancelled numbers, we are willing to make a more suitable arrangement for the person.

    Best Regards

    1. To Mr Vimal :
On behalf of my readers and myself, I thank you for your reply and for specifying the reasons behind the need to postpone the draw. It is good that customers know why things have changed and also that they are not really required to go to the head office for the exchange of tickets.

Well, good luck to everyone then!

    1. @Reeves : The results should be available on their official web site. Have a look. I am sure that the fuel stations should have a copy of the results. Just ask them, and good luck!

The guy at the station told me to query on the site but again to my surprise no results available. Can someone simplify life of clients and post it on the site???
