Hello people.
Welcome back to the blog. Trust you are all doing good! This is a post which has been among my drafts for quite some time! Time to publish it! Enjoy!
Since the upgrade to my iPhone 14 last December, I started to shop for a few accessories to make the maximum out of what Apple calls Magsafe. As from iPhone 12, Apple introduced a set of perfectly aligned magnets in form of a ring at the back of the device, allowing the gadgets or accessories to stick while providing extra functionality. At some point of time in 2016, the terminology “magsafe” was initially introduced for the MacBook chargers, but today we will talk only on the iPhones Magsafe Accessories.
Among the essential ones, you absolutely need a Magsafe case and a wireless Magsafe charger, both being available as from Rs350-400 but if you need a genuine one, probably multiply by 5.

Now, everything which comes next needs to be on the wishlist.
Magsafe Wallets

These brought more fun by making me ditch my traditional wallet whenever I need to go shopping. Very slim, these wallets can easily hold 2-3 cards. They do not add any noticeable extra weight.
Of course, the original Apple’s Magsafe Wallets feature a NFC chip which warns you if your wallet is detached. It costs around $60 while copies (without NFC) can be found below $10. And they are available in a wide range of colors.
Magsafe Camera Mount

As a enthusiast amateur photographer, I was stunned when I stumbled on this gadget which adds additional grip along with a shutter button to your iPhone. The camera mount pairs with your iPhone through bluetooth in order for the shutter button to trigger your camera.
And it is pretty instanteneous.

On top of making photography more pleasing, some models also allow you to charge your device wirelessly through a charging cable which is connected to the mount, while your iPhone is attached to it, through magsafe.
MagSafe Powerbanks
Do any of your friends brag about being able to charge another mobile with their usb-c cables?
Well, your iPhone can wirelessly charge through MagSafe Powerbanks. No cables needed.

Several models are available, with price range as low as Rs500 up to the most expensive ones, being the Apple branded, which are much slimmer and long lasting of course. And some MagSafe powerbanks might also come with their own built in stand.
Worth mentioning that some Android devices do have QI Wireless charging technology which is similar to Apple’s Magsafe minus the magnets.
PopSockets® PopWallets & PopGrips
These PopSockets® products completely changed the way I use my iPhone. Made in USA, they are of very high quality products and highly rated on reviews. These accessories take the game at a completely next level by combining
- a wallet with a capacity of 3-4 cards and
- a swappable top which can also be used as a mobile stand on the table or in your car when combined with a PopSockets® Car Vent holder.
Irony is that when I started using the PopSockets® PopWallets, I ditched my magsafe Wallet (which initially made me ditch my physical wallet). It is really very practical and I remove the PopWallet only if I am charging via my Magsafe charger. But most often, I still use my 2 meters long lightning cable by my bedside to charge my mobile at night.
The PopGrips (version without the wallet feature) provides a very convenient way to hold the mobile whether with your fingers or as a mobile stand when I am working, or watching videos or even in the car.

Dhaneesha loves her Blue Nebula PopGrip, featuring above, while I personally use both a Fresh Blanc and a Tourmaline Smoke themed wallets. So, we can interchange the tops whenever we like.
The PopGrips (as well as the PopWallets) come in dozens of different themes :

PopSockets® Car Vent 2
While this perfectly fits in the car vent of any car, you just need to slide your phone’s PopSocket’s onto this holder.

I love this and it never disappoints me as it securely holds my iPhone without ever falling.
PopSockets® also made for non magsafe devices
They have everyone in their mind, not only owners of iPhone 12 or more recent iPhones… Even if you have a Samsung, Xiaomi or anything, you can still use the PopSockets products.

The first time I purchased the Popsocket wallet, I unknowingly purchased a non-magsafe one. Something I realised only when I opened the product at home.
Since I had to order the correct one fitted with MagSafe and wait again, I nevertheless used the non-magsafe one which still sticks very firmly to the mobile’s case. It is as strong and practical as the Magsafe one, only difference being a small mount being permanently glued to your phone casing (preferably) while you can easily remove the wallet/grip as you wish.
If I am not mistaken, I think I used it for more than one and a half months while awaiting my new purchase to be delivered. So, it is solid stuff.
Prices of PopSockets® items
If purchased via Amazon or eBay or the official web site, the prices may vary, with the least being as follows
- MagSafe PopGrips ->$30
- MagSafe Wallets+ ->$40.
- Non-Magsafe Wallets->$30.

For those who are interested, I have a few in stock and I can give you the guarantee that they will cost you less than the official prices you will personally pay online (and no weeks of waiting time). Please send me a private message on Facebook or have a look at my contact page.
That was an overview of some of the MagSafe accessories which I personally purchased and tried over the past months.
