Foolish (and drunk?) driver runs his BMW along the beach of Mont Choisy!

Incredibly insane!

No news are confirmed yet at this moment but it seems that the Police arrested the driver who was apparently drunk. From the tiny bits of data I gathered, people ran away at the sight of the BMW 650i speeding along the beach this evening.

I have a little guess about the charges that might be put on the driver. Probably parking in an unauthorised area. Let’s see if the media gets hold of this incident which could have killed innocent sea lovers.

Update(23 December 2012):

This week, the court has given its judgement; a total of Rs40,000 fine as well as the suspension of his driving license for two years. The driver has also asked for forgiveness for his foolish act.

    mo ti lor la plage a 300-400 metre par la depi sa place kot loto la ine desan lor la plage ver 4 hr30 par la sa ti arrive sa. depi loin mo trouve dimoune ine entoure ene loto lor la plage.touristes ek mauriciens melanges. apres ene ti moment, ene boug ti p deboute dan delo,  ene blanc(touriste ou soit blanc local) ek ban dimounes p zour li, p menace li. apres sa 2-3 ban mauriciens meme ine saute lor li ine done li so kantite a tour de role. ek ena dimounes p rode separer. ene couple italien p sorti depi kot banla p vine dan mo direction. mo pane rode ale pres, acoz mone penser ene groupe dangereux ki p discuter.ban italiens la dire moi ki ene boug ki inpe riche ek line boire martini, line rentre lor la plage kot dimounes baigner ek ban touristes allonge, ek acoz sa ban dimounes ti p rode tire so manzer! vu lqa situation, mo reaction c’est telephone 999.personne pa pran!mo tel station curepipe, parski mo ena numero la save lor mo portable.banla dire moi zot pu contacter station concernee. apres 2-3 minutes, ban coast guard ine vini, depi dan 4*4. apres sa van la police, apres sa ban motards aussi, lerla zot ine pran boug la ek so fam.ene van la police ine pran li ine aller. pas bisin dire, so figure ti rempli are du sable, avant la police reussi pran li, dimounes ti p zourrer, ek ti p rode saute lor li. sa mem tou, apres sa mone ale la caze!

    3. The guy is white and he has special treatment like all white. He is a muti-millionaire and most probably makes a lot of contribution to some ministers’ coffers. Nobody will hear anymore about him. It will never get to court. The public beach has been a tip for ages. One would not want to go and spend time there…This is used to be such a lovely place. The administration is destroying Mauritius.

  14. By d way, hier soir lor chaine la reunion ti p passe CSI Miami kot ene jeune ti p roule quad lor la plage ek ine roule lor ene tifi ki ti p dormi labas…

    Bref when i heard this story today I just thought about my lil daughter, imagine!!!  You are playing with your child and you know that no one is gonna drive like crazy on a public beach…i personally don’t blame the people who were unhappy with the driver…BUT!!!  Thing is, nothing will happen to the driver since he’s rich 🙂

  21. Extrait de l’express : Un alcootest a été effectué sur l’indélicat. Celui-ci s’est avéré positif. Didier Chabaud devra comparaitre en cour de Mapou ce mercredi 18 janvier sous une accusation de conduite en état d’ivresse et de conduite dangereuse. Il a été entendu par la police de Pointe-aux-Canonniers avant d’être remis en liberté sur parole.

    1. Conduite en état d’ivresse, bien joli! Bé on aurait sûrement pu ajouter ‘mise en danger de la vie d’autrui’, je ne sais pas si ce genre d’accusation la existe a Maurice, mais ena ene différence entre rouler inconsciemment en zig zag sur la route et prendre délibérément la direction de la plage un après midi!

  46. It is not because of his color of skin he got off with it, it is because if his bank account. had this incident happened in another country it wouls have been treated like a serious offence. Zot prend la vie dimoune couma ene badinaz dans maurice. dimoune sauvage, no respect, courtoisie, safety or comfort in any way. You should always watch your back everywhere you go. We don’t live in Mauritius, we survive. It is a matter of time before we are hit with increasing cost of living and poor education in our schools.
