I know that you may have probably opened this post with much hope but I'm so sorry to say that you basically can't do anything to get back your lost mobile (unless slim but real chances if you have previously taken some precautions, as discussed later in this blog article).
In March 2014, the ICTA published a communique to inform the public about the existing regulations which will henceforth be more strictly enforced. But today, I am hereby confirming this fact : No permits (TAC) is needed to clear out of the customs if you are importing mobile phones for personal use.
Right from the beginning, I was completely and I'm strongly against this decision of the government of giving away free tablets to the college students. Several problems have been reported till today and now, even insurance companies don't want to insure those tablets!
According to this national regulatory authority for the ICT sector and the postal services, Mauritians might be more willing to purchase and carry out payment transactions without any fear on local e-commerce web sites displaying the "Trust Seal" awarded by the local authorities on several criteria.
