Hello everyone!
Finally posting the 2nd post of the month! I had gone quite blank these last days! Anyways, I’m back!
Ever heard the Mauritian version of Michel Telo’s hit : Ai Se Eu Te Pego? Well, I heard it on the radio a few times but tonight, I finally came across it on Youtube.
Despite playing it repeatedly for the last 15minutes, I still do not understand all the lyrics (in the Mauritian version). I must say that this version is quite rhythmic and gives a good vibe. But this version is far from being a good one or a hit. I do not think that Michel Telo’s fans and himself will hear the song till the end (but you need to for the sake of this post!)
Aller, “prend sa, prend sa, prend sa pu toi zoli mami… met nissa, met nissa, mo koner to kontent sa!”
Your comments please…
We Mauritians have this bad tendency of milking hits to their death. Same with
Ai Se Eu Te Pego. To call this version “beating a dead horse” would be an understatement. The original song is a horse holocaust, millions of horses each beaten until they’re no longer fur and blood and bone, but simply the individual atoms that makes horses horses.

Being bad is the trend. It sucks as much as the original version. 🙂

Or imitating the kitsch-est western trends seems trendy here… Until some westerner tells you it was fashionable “l’été dernier”…!

Kleenex-lifespan, Canned-food “music”, repetitive Guetta-type Euro-sipaki hardcore dance house wave, pété-répété (or mix-remix if you prefer), imitation (La Star Ac’, A la decourverte de la nouvelle star, patati-patata, etc…
All of the above are not at all my cup of tea. I prefer music composed and improvised/played by humans as far as possible. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g592I-p-dc

Mami cloun did create a cover on the song with the lyrics all about the Euro 2012. That was quite a catchy one…
