Les photos prises à Grand Port pleuvent sur Facebook depuis les derniers jours. Tout le monde veut partager ce moment passé dans cette expo ouverte au public pour célébrer le bicentenaire de la Bataille de Grand Port.Point à noter : Toutes les photos (presque) se ressemblent comme deux gouttes d’eau lol.
L’état a misé gros sur cet événement en essayant de faire revivre ce moment historique datant 1810 aux Mauriciens ainsi bien que les touristes. Les médias en parlent beaucoup même à l’étranger car plusieurs pays participent à cet événement. Le calendrier semble bien rempli jusqu’à la fin de ce mois : Concert, danse, expo, régates, etc.
Comme je ne sais pas encore si ça vaut vraiment la peine de me déplacer de Triolet à Grand Port,peut être que vous pouvez m’aider à décider ? Alors, c’était comment ?

let’s just say that if you want some nice information about the Mauritian colonial past and are interested in the development of Mtian culture, it might be worth going there, especially if you have kids!
There were a wide array of displays which were quite interesting to read. I went on a Sunday… let’s just say that crowd-management was not really up to the level – but lots of people came, and there was a general feeling of interest! I was a bit disappointed with the lack of interactivity re: displays – it was more like passive viewing and the queues did not make it really easy for you to contemplate for a long time.
all in all, I would say it was a nice experience. I will let others debate about the “worth” of having the event in the first place. But it was a bit of a letdown in the sense that I expected something more … grandiose.

L’entree est a Rs25.. Alors c’est pas cher du tout.
I went there, was really nice. It gives u an image of how mauritius did evolve. The structure are well …The display..all good.
If you want, you can also go for a “Travers a L’ile de la Passe”, a historical island.(But u must pay guess Rs200 :-()

@ Adam the entry fee is R25 and if u r college student or university student, u just have to show ur school or uni pass then u ll nt pay the it…regarding the exposition, its worth watching especially for children..the way they have depicted it, it gives a vivid picture of colonial and the period of slavery..they have shown almost all the culture we have in Mauritius..u ll find a wide range of information as u r walking around..i went on friday at about 3 p.m..well it was crowded but i was satisfied as i was able 2 observe the displays along with my family..we have enjoyed finding some objects that i had not seen before eg the ancient iron…we have really enjoyed our visit and i congratulate the organizers for their first time and i know they will improve if they will be organizing such events in the future..

Think I will go to visit during the week when less crowded. Also hopefully when the weather will improve next week. I am interested in the history of Mauritius and need some photos for a private website.

I visited the exhibition and found it interesting, especially if you enjoy history. Although the exhibition is around the naval battle of 1810 it does not glorify war but instead the accent is on the population of Mauritius. Inside the population museum there is a most interesting part on the origins of several Mauritian families which still exist today. That in itself is a local treasure. I went during the week, less people and a better opportunity to read the descriptions. However, if you want more of a show then go at weekend. Definitely a must for school kids.

Hi!
I finally went to visit the “prehistoric village” yesterday. Fortunately, I had got 5 tickets for free. Frankly speaking, I did not read any notice boards there, was too boring. I only took some shots here and there.

It was also an opportunity to visit that part of the island, so we drove around in the region before going back home.

IT WILL HELP EVERYONE TRACE BACK THE HARSH REALITY THAT OUR ANCESTORS HAD HAD TO FACE IN THE HANDS OF THE ENGLISH WHICH HAS ULTIMATELY LEAD TO OUR INDEPENDENCE BY SSR TO A THRIVING ISLAND TODAY.SIMULTANEOUSLY, WE WILL BE ABLE TO CHERISH OUR ANCESTRAL HERITAGE WHICH WILL DEFINITELY MARK THE REST OF OUR LIVES. IT WILL LEAD US TO PONDER ABOUT THE DARKER REALITY THAT OUR ANCESTORS HAD HAD TO ENDURE-THING THAT MANY IF NOT ALL OF US TAKE FOR GRANTED. ITS A FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT 2 FOR MANY OF US WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO IN OUR LEISURE TIME.LOL.ITS A MUST 4 EVERY1 TO GO.
