i should first of all be grateful that nomad is working and allowing me to post this in my blog…thnks 😀
so, “mo commence plaigne imper”
this started 2 days back, with a very low speed since early the morning.
i called them to complain as usual and during the “troubleshooting”, at one time, when the modem was reset from there, it became “capoute”/Out of order…
some technical problem, no display on screen and no connection
please note that as usual, at that time, the BTS antenna was again out of order and the persons concerned are always there as usual to put it to work again.
I had to go to a nomad stand to get it exchanged and supposingly enjoy a good connection, as says the moto;
“High Speed Reliable Internet Access”
no no no…
since then, my connection seems ko.
am getting surf speeds of about 50-70kbps for a 128 kbps modem.

today, since the morning, have been calling them several times and no one is able to give me a reason why i am getting this speed.
i called them at 1730 and “customer care agent la ine passe ene movais 10mins”
ah, seems that nomad is kouma dire “la boutik sinois”…
there is no one in charge there at times, just like today, when i asked to talk to one of the supervisors or even a technician.
after, some “maltraiter and kozer kouyon”, a supervisor was “finally available” and according to her,
bane fluctuations lo rezo dan le nord p cause sa problem la.
i agree 4 fluctuation, but not at the rate of 50%, sometimes giving 50kbps!
It seems that as usual and always, technicians are working on it right now and everything will be ok at 19hrs. i promised to her to call her back at 19hrs….LOL….
so, thats about the everyday life of nomad users….

ah, also, i forgot to mention that according to nomad,
Customers do not have the right to use a software called
“Navini Diagnostic” which is freely available from Navini’s Site.
Instead, I encourage, every nomad user to download it(if ur nomad works) and use it koz
- It allows u to know from which antenna u r receiving connection
- Distance from that antenna
- Reset your modem from your computer itself
- Get technical details about your modem
- Get Graphs of Speed and Quality
Get it Now and tell Customer Care that it is available and you are using it.

Better switch to Wanadoo 128k. I made the switch from Servihoo to ADSL & got my modem last Monday… :devil:
& i can say that i haven’t had any problems with it, although speed is not that constant.
However I believe that our Internet “slavery” will hopefully end next year with the arrival of EASSY.
Speaking of internet, MT has made record profits of Rs. 2 Billion!!(from our pockets) :shocked:
However 40% of that goes directly to France Telecom :angry: & hardly any effort is put into re-investing that money.(The least they could do was to improve the quality of their services)
& i’ve also heard that FT & MT are thinking of changing Cellplus into Orange! :dizzy:
I don’t think it’s a good idea since i don’t like the name Zoranz(since it’s too common in Africa) & Cellplus will no longer be considered as a Mauritian company…

At least with Wanadoo, i’m guaranteed a constant speed.
Well, speaking of speed, i always get a 128kbps connection.
But download speed varies between 9 to 20 kb/s.(depends on server u r connecting to)
Average speed is around 13.84 kb/s during the weekend.
Just downloaded 700Mb today… via Rapidshare.

every month except june month i have been making around 35 GB each time.due to high download and online gaming.
10 hours per day! ! !and 13 hours of download daily.the remaining 1 hour is used for surfing.lol :biggrin: :biggrin:
by the way armand.between 18.00 and 22.00 myt connection is slow for me and for some other users

5kb/s isn’t acceptable for a 256kbps connection… 😦 😦
It’s almost as if u r using dial-up.
I’m now getting average 11kb/s during normal downloads…
Otherwise it’s 14+kb/s on private servers…
Theoretically i should be getting 16kb/s but… in Mauritius… 😦 😦

Mauritius Telecom autorisée à continuer à offrir son service My.T
Lancement du fournisseur d’accès Internet Nomad en 2005. Ce dernier avait déposé plainte concernant My.T, alléguant que ce service de MT est illégal.
Lancement du fournisseur d’accès Internet Nomad en 2005. Ce dernier avait déposé plainte concernant My.T, alléguant que ce service de MT est illégal.
L’offre triple play (téléphone, Internet et télévision en un seul package) de Mauritius Telecom (MT) n’est pas anticoncurrentielle et n’est pas en infraction à la loi. La compagnie peut donc continuer à fournir son service My.T à ses abonnés. De plus, MT peut maintenir ses tarifs pour ce service. Ainsi en a décidé l’ICT Appeal Tribunal dans un jugement émis vendredi dernier.
C’est une mauvaise nouvelle pour le fournisseur d’accès Internet Nomad qui avait logé une plainte concernant My.T le 11 janvier dernier contre l’Information & Communication Technologies Authority (Icta). “Toutes les options sont maintenant ouvertes après ce jugement. Pour l’instant, nous ne pouvons pas faire d’autres commentaires parce que nous étudions encore le jugementâ€, déclare Rizwan Rahim, marketing manager de Nomad.
Cette entreprise estime que My.T lui fait beaucoup de tort et opère dans l’illégalité. Devant le tribunal, son directeur exécutif, Shankar Peerthy, a indiqué, graphiques à l’appui, que depuis novembre 2006, les ventes de son service d’internet sans fil, Nomad, a connu une baisse “considérable†et qu’elle “souffre d’un préjudice financierâ€.
Depuis le lancement de My.T en juillet 2006 et jusqu’en novembre de la même année, Nomad enregistrait une croissance mensuelle de 30 %. Ce chiffre est passé à 10 % suite à la baisse des tarifs pratiqués par MT en novembre.
Shankar Peerthy impute donc directement le fort ralentissement de la croissance des abonnements à Nomad à la baisse des tarifs de l’ADSL de MT, qui a répercuté cette baisse sur My.T. Et comme Nomad a mis en place un réseau indépendant avec une technologie différente de celle de MT, c’est-à -dire le WiMAX (Internet haut débit sans fil), la compagnie n’a pas pu profiter de cette baisse de l’ADSL. Selon les hommes de loi de Nomad, My.T est vendu à des tarifs qui sont inférieurs au coût réel du service.
A titre comparatif, alors que Nomad vend 1 mégabit par seconde (Mbps) à Rs 1 080, My.T propose deux Mbps à Rs 490. Compte tenu de ses investissements, Nomad ne peut rivaliser.
Licence de fournisseur Internet
Pour Nomad, un des objectifs de MT en procédant ainsi a été de mettre hors-jeu ses concurrents. Et l’Icta, en permettant à la compagnie nationale des télécommunications de baisser ses tarifs, est allée dans son sens, estime Nomad. L’Icta n’aurait donc pas, selon Nomad, maintenu une compétition saine, juste et efficiente entre les différents fournisseurs de l’industrie des nouvelles technologies. Nomad soutient également que MT n’est pas habilitée à opérer son service triple play car elle n’a pas de licence de fournisseur Internet. Des arguments qui n’ont toutefois pas été admis par le tribunal.
Même s’il a reconnu qu’il est “clair qu’il y a eu une chute importante dans les parts de marché du plaignantâ€, le président de l’ICT Appeal Tribunal, Denis Vellien, a estimé qu’en l’absence de chiffres établissant que My.T est proposé en dessous du seuil de profitabilité, le tribunal ne peut donner gain de cause à Nomad sur ce point.
Denis Vellien estime également qu’il ne peut se prononcer sur la conduite anticoncurrentielle alléguée de MT en l’absence de preuves concrètes. Le tribunal note également qu’il y a “d’autres concurrents sur le marché qui n’ont pas été mis hors jeu par l’arrivée de My.T, mais sont restés sur le marché pour faire la compétitionâ€. De plus, les concurrents en question ne se sont pas joints à Nomad dans sa plainte.
Frais payés à l’Icta
Concernant l’argument du plaignant que MT ne détiendrait pas la licence de fournisseur d’Internet, Denis Vellien affirme que l’ICT Act n’a pas été enfreint et prend en compte le fait que MT paie annuellement des frais de licence de plus de Rs 10 millions à l’Icta. Il est donc normal de ne pas lui réclamer les Rs 50 000 que coûte la licence de fournisseur d’accès Internet.
Krishna Oolun, directeur exécutif de l’Icta, a pour sa part soutenu que les licences que détient déjà MT lui donnent le droit d’offrir My.T. Quant à la baisse des prix de l’ADSL que son organisme a autorisée, il affirme que c’est la politique du gouvernement de promouvoir l’Internet et que cela se fait principalement par la réduction des tarifs.
